Super Bowl LIV takes place this Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami with the Kansas City Chiefs facing the San Francisco 49ers. Even if you’re not a fan of either team, you might want to tune in any way since Volvo just gave everyone something to root for.
Volvo prides itself on the safety of its vehicles. Its crash test facility even has a moose collision test.
This year, to celebrate 90-plus years of vehicle safety and more than 1-million lives saved by its safety innovations, it is offering $1 million worth of cars if either the Chiefs or 49ers score a safety.
If you’re unfamiliar with American football terminology, a safety can be scored when the ball carrier is tackled in his own end zone or when a foul is committed by the offense in their own end zone. Balls snapped out of the end zone, or fumbles through the end zone also can result in a safety. Safeties are the least common way of scoring, but according to The New York Times, “Since 1932, when the NFL started keeping records of the play, there has been a safety every 14.31 games, or about once a week given the league’s current schedule.”
To enter to win your own Volvo, you can follow this link to configure your very own 2020 Volvo and submit the design for a chance to win. You have until February 2, 2020 (6:24:59pm ET) to create your perfect car, color and trim. Tune in this Sunday to root for your favorite team. And root for safety, too!
