Vikings on Display in NYC

A Viking exhibit without horned helmets?

That’s what New York Times reviewer Neil Genzlinger noted, among many other things, when writing about The Vikings Exhibition, which is on display at Discovery Times Square through Sept. 5.

The exhibition, presented by the Swedish History Museum, features more than 500 artifacts, many of which never have been seen outside of Scandinavia. And it highlights a culture that is far more than the helmet-wearing pillagers portrayed everywhere from the movies to Capital One commercials.

Among the things to see are full-scale model Viking ships, weapons, interactive activities that explore farming, clothing and craftsmanship.

The Viking Exhibition opened on Feb. 5 and runs through Sept. 5. Discovery Times Square is located at 226 West 44th Street in Manhattan.
