Vad Fan?! We’re How Old? Umgås Turns 4

When we launched Umgås four years ago, we never would have envisioned the community we have today. Each week, we publish seven stories about everything under the Swedish-American sun, and we couldn’t imagine our daily lives any other way.

Our team is honored to help propel Swedish-American voices, thoughts and stories from around the world into our fun, tight-knit community. When you share your photos and stories on social media, we pass them around the office and smile with delight. There is a shared experience among us, there is a proud heritage and connection to Sweden. That’s why we’re all here, that’s why we’re so excited about the work we put out for you to read.

Not every story is a win, and not every story resonates in a positive way – but that’s OK. That’s what makes this site so great. We’re engaging in a Swedish-American dialog, as a community, and that’s the whole reason we’re here.

As we reflect back on our four years, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being our readers. And for being part of our community.
