Umgås is headed to New York City for the Nordic International Film Festival (NIFF).

The festival, started by Swedish actors/directors John Matton and Linnea Larsdotter, is celebrating its third anniversary and takes place this weekend at the Scandinavia House.

NIFF attendees will get the chance to see two world premieres and several international premieres. Films from Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Greece, France, Croatia and the U.S. will be on display. The event also features two panels, “Diverse Voices in Film” and “Film as a Political Tool,” and a red carpet/awards ceremony.

Reed Birney, winner of the 2016 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor for his role as Erik Blake in “The Humans” and also known for his role as Vice President Donald Blythe in “House of Cards,” will serve as host.

Check back next week for our coverage from the event.
