Swedish Innovator Turns Her Tesla Into A Truck
Some people are truck people. Some people are electric car people. But if you happen to be a truck person who is in the market for an electric car, you’re basically out of luck.
Being both an electric car aficionado and very much Team Pickup, our favorite Swedish tinkerer Simone Giertz came to this devastating realization (#firstworldproblem) and decided to take matters into her own hands. Literally.
Meet Truckla. Part truck, part tesla. Equal parts amazing. And we love Giertz’s subtle flex of purchasing a Tesla for the sole purpose of dismantling it. In her video documenting the process, she acknowledges that the idea is a crazy one.
“I don’t know if this is going to be the smartest or the most stupid thing I’m ever going to do, but bottom line is, I really want an electric pickup truck. And more specifically, I want a Tesla pickup,” says Giertz. “Rumor has it, they are going to announce one this summer, but then it’s going to be years before you could actually have one, and I don’t have time to wait for that! I need to haul lumber and dead bodies right now. So, I’m just going to have to make my own.”
From crafting crappy robots to kicking her brain tumor’s butt, when she sets her mind to something, you better watch out. It’s going to happen.
And with the help of many fellow innovators, it did. And it’s so legit. And of course, she made a fake commercial for it.
The video documenting the full build is just over thirty minutes, but well worth the watch.
