How Many Swedes Will Make The NHL All-Star Game?
The NHL will announce rosters for its All-Star Game tomorrow, Jan. 10.
Which Swedish players will be selected to the Jan. 28 game in Tampa? The editors and writers at NHL.com predict six Swedes will be honored as All-Stars.

They project:
- Victor Hedman, of the hometown Tampa Bay Lightning, and Erik Karlsson (Ottawa) to lead the defense for the Atlantic Division. It would be the second appearance for Hedman and fourth for Karlsson, the two-time Norris Trophy winner (and two-time runner-up) whose upcoming contract likely will make him the highest-paid defenseman in the league, according to USA Today.
- Goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who the New York Post says is having his best season for the New York Rangers since the 2011-12 season, is expected to be between the pipes for the Metropolitan Division. It would be the legend’s fourth All-Star appearance.
- In the Central Division, Dallas Stars defenseman John Klingberg is projected to make his first All-Star Game appearance. Klingberg, who leads defensemen in scoring, is a candidate for the Norris Trophy, according to the Dallas Morning News.
- Center William Karlsson is having quite a year in the debut season for the Vegas Golden Knights and registered the franchise’s first hat trick on New Year’s Eve. And defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson is having another standout season for Arizona – despite plenty of trade rumors. Both are projected for the Pacific Division team.
Stay tuned to find out which Swedes make it to the big game on Jan. 28!
