In The News: Can Sweden Slay The ‘Damn German Ghost?’
Sweden meets Germany Saturday in the quarterfinals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Swedes haven’t beaten the Germans in a major tournament since 1991 – a string of 10 losses and a draw, according to AFP. Included in the losses was the gold medal game in the Rio Olympics in 2016. “We are tired of hearing about this damn German ghost,” defender Magdalena Eriksson was quoted as saying.

Cher returning to Sweden for first time in 14 years
Cher is turning back time and will perform her classics, as well as songs from her album of ABBA covers, in Stockholm on Oct. 17. The concert, according to Broadway World, will mark Cher’s first concert in Sweden in 14 years.

First all-vegan school opens in Sweden
A school that opened in 2006 and moved to a new location in Sweden in 2018 recently transitioned its menu to all vegan. Hagaskolan-Waldorfskolan, according to VegNews, became the first Swedish school to do so.
