Swede Recap From The 2019 Emmys
After the glitz and glam of the red carpet, our eyes were glued on the Swedes who were nominated for HBO’s gloomy, albeit acclaimed, series “Chernobyl.” The limited series stars Stellan Skarsgård and was directed by Johan Renck – both were nominated for Emmys for their respective parts in the production.
Thankfully for us, the limited series awards were right in the middle of the show, which meant we could start brushing our teeth and crawling into bed while the trophies were being doled out.
We stayed up long enough to see Renck win for Directing for a Limited Series and Skarsgård to lose to Ben Whishaw in the Best Supporting Actor category. You win some, you lose some.
But overall, the “Chernobyl” cast and crew ended on a high, nearly sweeping the limited series category. The show also took home an Emmy for Writing for a Limited Series, Movie or Drama and for Best Limited Series.
If you’re interested in seeing the other winners of the night, here’s a full list from the New York Post.
