The Next Skarsgård Flick Is Giving Us Chills
Earlier this week, Netflix released the trailer for one of its next original movies, “Hold the Dark,” which stars Jeffrey Wright, Alexander Skarsgård and Riley Keough – and holy smoked salmon, we’re excited.
Now, Netflix has been hit and miss with its original films: Some get nominated for Oscars, like “Mudbound,” while others fall by the wayside. One of those films we had high hopes for was a futuristic Skarsgård flick, “Mute,” but it fell short in the eyes of critics. From what we’re hearing, we think “Hold the Dark” might grant him redemption.
Watching the trailer, we know there are killer wolves, maybe a cult, definitely some blood, creepy villagers and a vengeful dad (Skarsgård) who is trying to get his missing son back. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Skarsgård gives a little glimpse into his character’s story: “It’s a tricky one, because I don’t want to reveal too much. But I play a guy named Vernon Sloane and when we first meet him he’s a soldier fighting overseas. He returns home and his world unravels when he finds out what’s happened.”
And we can’t wait to find out what happens. The film will be released on Netflix on Sept. 28, but before it hits the small screen, it will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 12, according to IndieWire.
