A new app is making fishing more efficient – and fun – for people all over the world.

Fishbrain, a social-networking fishing app developed in Stockholm, combines nature with tech to give anglers the best odds on the water. Users can log their catches, connect and share with other enthusiasts and get data-based intel on fishing hot spots and what’s biting in their area.

The app’s success is anchored in its social community.

Fishbrain cross-checks its users’ recent catch data with local weather data to predict the best times, places and even bait to make the perfect catch. Its creators envisioned a social network where the more its users fish, the more everyone else wins – and with more than 750,000 logged catches, Fishbrain anglers have more resources than ever at their fingertips.

Out of their office in Stockholm, Fishbrain engineers work to update forecasts for fishing communities across the globe. The social network includes features that let users share photos, follow anglers, join conversations and search their favorite spots to see the latest catches. Its discussion feature brings angler communities together and facilitates competition among users.

In addition to social perks, Fishbrain organizes each user’s catch logs and gives easy access to personalized updates. With records of their catch history, anglers get a look back at their best practices to compare past positions on local maps, prime days and times and statistics on their personal records.

Fishbrain’s goal to be “the best app for fishing, hands-down” is not far-fetched.

Since its launch in Sweden in 2013, it has recruited more than 2.7 million avid users and expanded to the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Canada.
