Our Favorite Items From OMEDELBAR, IKEA’s Funky New Collection

In case you missed it, at the end of February, IKEA launched a brand new line dubbed OMEDELBAR.

The collection was developed in collaboration with fashion activist and costume designer Bea Åkerlund (who also is a stylist for Beyoncé) and is a real departure from the clean, minimalism we are used to seeing from the iconic Swedish retailer.

“It should speak to the many, but still be true to who I am,” Åkerlund said in press materials. “Looking at OMEDELBAR I feel like we’ve really accomplished that, as it contains items that I love and have been looking for myself. I’ve always had a clear vision of what this collection should be, from start to finish. And with it, I hope to inspire people to think outside the box, get them to take a risk and have fun, to purchase something they’d never expect to find at IKEA. Simply put – get people to live a little!”

OMEDELBAR is full of statement pieces and bold pops of red – definitely not for the interior-designing faint of heart. While the collection as a whole is a lot to handle, some of the individual pieces are to die for, and here are our favorites.
