Exploring Mountain Culture with Elevated Magazine
An admiration of nature and outdoor culture are appreciated throughout Scandinavian culture. Just look to the crackling bonfires during Walpurgis Night or Sweden’s impressive national park system.
To celebrate the great outdoors, Swedish Match and General Snus teamed up with Freeskier and Storm Mountain Media to produce the latest edition of Elevated, an inspiring picture- and story-rich look at mountain culture.
“The team here at Storm Mountain is comprised of year-round athletes and adventurers who live the mountain lifestyle,” Storm Mountain Media publisher Damian Quigley said. “Right off the bat we had a bunch of ideas for stories that would resonate well with the readers of Elevated.”
All of the stories share a common characteristic – the desire to reach the top.
The magazine’s partnership made sense because of Swedish Match’s work to be the very best and the unending pursuit to provide the highest quality tobacco products like General Snus.
There’s something for everyone in the latest issue:
- A mother and son conquering one of the 54 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado in the “Quest for the Fourteneers.”
- “Swedish Delight” a profile of Sweden’s Sommelier of the Year for 2004 and 2014 Patrik Strömsten, who owns a four-star hotel and restaurant in the remote Riksgränsen.
- A foldout map and history of the U.S. national park system you’ll want to keep in your glovebox – and pass on to future generations.
“My personal favorite would have to be ‘Air Drop,’ which is about float plane-accessed mountain biking in the backcountry of interior British Columbia,” Quigley said. “I have a feeling that the story and accompanying images will inspire at least a few trips up that way.”
