Americans Fika for a week

Coffee, warm pastries and time to unwind with friends during the work day is known to Swedes as Fika.

While this Swedish tradition sounds like an ideal custom we’d love to adopt, do Americans really feel they are able to take the time out of their busy schedules to do this?

According to CNN Money, Americans work the longest hours compared to the world’s largest economies; the average full-time employee working about 47 hours per week. In contrast, some Swedish businesses are experimenting with a six-hour work day.

In the spirit of Fika, the Umgås staff is going to experiment with Fika for a week.
