In Concert: The ABBA Tribute Band Arrival From Sweden
HOPEWELL, Va. – When the ABBA tribute band Arrival from Sweden stops in your area, you go!
At the Beacon Theatre, Arrival from Sweden put on a spectacular performance. From their sound to the aesthetics, the musicians replicated ABBA so well, it felt like we had traveled back in time to see the original supergroup.
The costumes and production were on point. During the first set, the front women of the group wore exact replicas of the iconic ABBA kimonos while the back-up singers shimmered in their sequined dresses.
The live music sounded as good, if not better than the records. Victoria Norbäck and Jenny Gustafsson who play the “As” of ABBA sounded exactly like Anni-Frid and Agnetha, while Rolf Ivraeus, who plays the role of Benny, killed it on the keys and Jonas Karlsson, who plays Björn, shredded on guitar – especially during their solos.
But the show was more than just an entertaining experience: It brought people of all ages together.
Families, seniors, teens and even young children danced from their seats and clapped along to the beat while the entire auditorium belted out the lyrics to “Money, Money, Money,” “Waterloo” and several more hits. Between songs, Norbäck shared facts about the original members of ABBA, the music group’s history and Swedish background. She even sang the first verse of “Fernando” in Swedish.
Arrival from Sweden will be touring in select cities across the United States this spring. Check out the schedule here and be sure to book your tickets in advance.
