Swe-Dishes (And Drinks): Malmö MuleAugust 2, 2019
Mules are a must during the hot summer months. From the original Moscow Mule, made with vodka, to a Kentucky Mule, made with bourbon, and the endless varieties of fruits, herbs and shrubs that can be added in, there’s a mule for everyone.
Today, we’re sharing our take – created by one of our writers – on a mule that uses aquavit, the Malmö Mule. Hints of caraway and fennel from the Scandinavian spirit give this mule an herbaceous and slightly savory flavor.
We hope you enjoy.
- 2 oz your choice of aquavit
- .5 oz simple syrup
- 1 oz fresh squeezed lime
- 2 oz ginger beer
- 6-8 mint leaves
- Garnish: lime wheel, sprig of mint
- Combine mint leaves, simple syrup, lime juice and aquavit in a shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously.
- Double strain over fresh ice.
- Top with ginger beer.
- Add garnish.
- Sip and enjoy.
Tip: Try muddling in fresh wild strawberries to sweeten things up. Or if you enjoy more tart cocktails, muddle in a few lingonberries.
This cocktail was created by one of our Umgås writers, a former bartender and cocktail enthusiast.
